About

My name is Matt Burris and I’ve been playing video games for as long as I can remember. I currently run a blog at goodblimey.com, where I post just about anything.

The purpose of MattPlays.com is to provide high-quality, streaming videos of the games I play. Ever watch a video for a game and it is either entirely rendered in CGI that doesn’t show off anything in-game, or watch a video that uses in-game footage but it is all highly stylized shots that doesn’t accurately portray the game? I’ve seen enough of it to get sick of it, and this site is a way for me to share videos of games I play, seen through a gamer’s eyes — mine. It may not paint the game in a favorable, marketing-approved light, but at least you’ll see what it’s like when a gamer plays the game.

I make it a priority to record at the game’s highest visual quality setting. I also try to make sure I am playing a part of the game I haven’t played before, although sometimes that may not be possible (for example, old games I’ve beaten before, but am playing over again.) These measures ensure that what you see is just pure, honest gameplay. I never edit anything, it’s all unadulterated footage.

This site’s design was created by me from scratch, using WordPress as the backend to power the site. MattPlays.com was birthed on August 31st, 2007.
